Abstract
Objective: This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of family counseling based on a growth mindset on resilience and rejection-acceptance in mothers of children with multiple disabilities. Method: A semi-experimental design with a pre-test-post-test approach and an unequal control group was used. The statistical population consisted of 108 students from Kousha School for children with multiple disabilities in Mashhad, selected randomly. The Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (2000) and Porter’s Rejection-Acceptance Questionnaire (1954) were used for data collection. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) in SPSS 22. Findings: The results revealed that family counseling based on a growth mindset had a significant positive effect on the resilience of mothers of children with multiple disabilities. It also improved the mothers’ rejection-acceptance.
Discussion and Conclusion: The research findings indicate that family counseling based on a growth mindset can be an effective intervention for improving resilience and acceptance in mothers of children with multiple disabilities. This approach helps reduce feelings of rejection and enhances resilience, enabling such mothers to better cope with daily challenges.
