Concurrent validity of the fifth supplementary edition of scales Wechsler children's Intelligence and the new version of the Tehran-Bineh-stanford intelligence test in students with learning disabilities in Mazandaran province

| Objectives: The present study aimed to determine the concussive validity of the Fifth Supplementary Version of the Wechsler Intelligence Scales for Children and the new version of the Tehran-Stanford-Binet Intelligence Test. Methods: The research employed a survey as its methodology of psychometric nature. Statistical population comprised all lower elementary school students (first through third grade) with learning disabilities who were enrolled in private and public centers providing educational-therapeutic services in Mazandaran province during the academic year 2017–2018. From this population, a sample of 120 individuals with learning disabilities were selected using the purposive sampling. The utilized research instruments included the Fifth Supplemental Version of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children and the new version of Tehran-Stanford-Binet Intelligence Test. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation coefficients. Results: The results indicated a significant positive correlation between corresponding scales of two instruments in some cognitive domains such as: fluid reasoning, verbal comprehension, visual-spatial processing, working memory and processing speed. Conclusion: Based on the findings, the Fifth Supplemental Version of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale has favorable concurrent validity with the new version of Tehran-Stanford-Binet Intelligence Test in students with learning disabilities and can be utilized in the psychological assessment and diagnosis of this population. |
