A Preliminary Study on the Reliability, Validity and Cut Off Points of the Disorders of Children Symptom Inventory-4 (CSI-4)

The purpose of this research was to study the reliability, validity and cut- off points of the disorders of Children Symptom Inventory-4 in two groups of 6-14 years old normal children from mainstream schools of Tehran, and children with behavior and emotional disorders referred to clinical centers. For this purpose 1080 of 6-14 years-old students from the primary and secondary schools, were selected. The parent and teacher questionnaires of the inventory were administered. The results show that, CSI-4 parent questionnaire has appropriate validity and reliability for Iranian children. Meanwhile; there are appropriate cut -off points with high sensitivity and specificity for the screening of children with Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity, Attention Deficit, Hyperactivity, Oppositional Defiant, Conduct, Generalized Anxiety, Major Depressive, Dysthymic, Autistic, Social Phobia, Separation Anxiety, Specific Phobia, Obsessive-Compulsive, Motor and Vocal Tics disorders. But the sensitivity and specificity of the CSI-4 teacher questionnaire was lower than that of the parent questionnaire, except for Tic Disorder.
