Abstract:   (53 Views)
Objective: This study aimed to examine the impact of parenting stress on behavioral problems in children with special needs and to investigate the mediating role of parental distress tolerance and aggression within the family’s educational management system. Method: The research is applied in purpose and descriptive-correlational in terms of data collection. The statistical population included all parents of exceptional students in primary and secondary education in Qazvin Province during the 2022–2023 academic year, totaling 1,410 individuals. The sample size was determined as 303 using Morgan’s table and selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using four questionnaires: the Abidin Parenting Stress Index, the Achenbach Child Behavior Checklist (Parent Version), the Simons and Gaher Distress Tolerance Scale, and the Buss and Perry Aggression Questionnaire, with reported reliabilities of 0.94, 0.92, 0.95, and 0.89, respectively. Results: Findings indicated that parenting stress was significantly associated with both internalizing and externalizing behavioral problems in children with special needs, and that parental distress tolerance and aggression played a mediating role in this relationship. Conclusion: The results highlight the importance of addressing parenting stress, parental distress tolerance, and aggression patterns when designing educational and supportive interventions for parents of children with special needs to enhance program effectiveness.
