Effects of Training Self-regulation Skills on Academic Performance among High School Students with Vision Loss

Objective: This study investigates the effect of self-regulation skills on academic performance among high school students with vision loss. Method: For this purpose, all of 120 students from Shorideh School for Blind Students were recruited and randomly assigned into control and experiment groups. Motivation and Learning Strategies Questionnaire (MSLQ), and a biology test were administered as the pretest for the two groups. The experiment group received 8 sessions of training for self-regulation skills. A follow-up was conducted for the groups after 1 month. Results: Variance analysis with repeated measures manifested a significant difference between the two groups. This means that the experimental group performance in biology was improved. The follow-up study showed that the effect was still maintained after the time. Conclusion: This study confirmed that self-regulation skills can improve the academic performance in high school students with vision loss.
