AbstractObjective: This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of a positive parenting training program on the mother-child relationship profile and cognitive-behavioral emotion regulation in mothers of hearing-impaired children. Methods: The research employed a quasi-experimental design with pre-test, post-test, and follow-up assessments, including a control group. The research population consisted of all mothers of hearing-impaired children aged 4-years in Sabzevar City (Iran) in 2023. A sample of 30 participants was selected through convenience sampling and assigned to experimental and control groups (15 participants in each group). The experimental group received the positive parenting training program, while the control group was placed on a waiting list. Data were collected using the Parent-Child Relationship Scale (PCRS), the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ), and the Behavioral Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (BERQ). Data analysis was performed using multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) in SPSS-27.Results: The findings revealed that the positive parenting intervention had a significant positive effect on both the mother-child relationship profile and cognitive-behavioral emotion regulation in mothers of hearing-impaired children. Conclusion: This study provides valuable insights into the effectiveness of positive parenting training for mothers of hearing-impaired children. Counseling centers and psychologists in auditory rehabilitation centers can utilize this intervention to improve the mother-child relationship profile and enhance cognitive and behavioral emotion regulation in these mothers.
