The statistical population of the present study included students with visual impairment in North Khorasan who were studying in schools in this province in the academic year 2022-2023. The sample of the present study included 30 female students with visual impairment aged 14 to 18 who were selected by convenience sampling method and randomly divided into two experimental and control groups. The compassion-focused therapy was taught to the experimental group in eight 90-minute sessions, but the control group was not given any training and remained on the waiting list. In the present study, the revised life orientation questionnaire and the revised communication skills questionnaire were used to measure optimism and communication skills, respectively. The research data were analyzed using univariate and multivariate analysis of covariance using SPSS-26 statistical software. Results: The results showed that compassion-focused therapy had a positive and significant effect on the optimism and communication skills of students with visual impairment. Conclusion: Considering the effectiveness of compassion-focused therapy on optimism and communication skills of students with visual impairment, it can be concluded that the use of this intervention is of particular importance and necessity for these students.
