Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of play therapy on emotion regulation, social skills and resilience in children with social anxiety. Method: This is a quasi-experimental research with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the study included all 6-10-year-old children with social anxiety disorder in Karaj Counseling Center in 2023-2024; of which, 30 people were selected according to the two psychologists’ clinical interview and the cut-off score in Leibovitz's Social Anxiety Questionnaire. They were randomly placed in two experimental (15 people) and control (15 people) groups. Emotion regulation, social competence and resilience questionnaire was implemented for children. The experimental group received 8 sessions of Adlerian play therapy, while the control group did not receive any specific intervention. Analysis of covariance with repeated measures was used to analyze the data. Results: Based on the research findings, play therapy has an effective role in regulating emotions, social skills and resilience in children with social anxiety. Conclusion: Since play therapy is based on the reflection of the child's behavior and the child becomes self-aware of her actions and behavior, it is effective in improving emotional regulation, social skills and resilience in children with social anxiety.
