Objective: Hearing impairment is one of the obstacles to the normal development of emotions, and emotional problems can cause interpersonal sensitivity. This research was conducted with the aim of investigating the effect of emotion regulation training on interpersonal sensitivity in adolescents with hearing impairment. Method: The current research was of a quasi-experimental type with a pre-test, post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of this research consisted of all adolescents with hearing impairment in Isfahan city in the academic year of 2022-2023. The research sample included 30 adolescents with hearing impairment who were selected using the convenience sampling method and were randomly assigned to an experimental group and a control group, and 15 people participated in each group. Emotion regulation training was implemented in 8 sessions for the experimental group, while the control group did not participate in this intervention and remained on the waiting list. The instrument used in this research was the interpersonal sensitivity scale. The research data were analyzed by multivariate covariance analysis using SPSS-26 statistical software. Results: The results of the research showed that the interpersonal sensitivity in the experimental group was significantly reduced compared to the control group. The effect of educational intervention on interpersonal sensitivity and the subscales of interpersonal awareness and shyness was significant, while it was not significant on the subscales of need for approval, separation anxiety, and fragile self-esteem. Conclusion: The emotion regulation training program reduced the interpersonal sensitivity of adolescents with hearing impairment. Therefore, this program can be used to reduce the interpersonal problems of adolescents.
