The availability and appropriateness of hearing-aids for the deaf students is what this study is concerned with. 578 pre-school, primary and secondary students of both sexes were sampled randomly from the special schools of six districts of Tehran. For obtaining the data a questionnaire was filled out by interviewing the parents and teachers, and doing audiometric and otoscopic examinations. The descriptive analysis of the data brought forth the following results. A considerable number of deaf students (11.25 %) didn't have any hearing - aids, and of those who did have, 20. 66% didn't use it. 31.7% of the hearing aids were not appropriate for the users. Only 35.9% of students had appropriate hearing aids and used them throughout the waking hours. Comparing the age of identification of hearing impairment with that of receiving hearing aid, revealed an at least two- year gap.
