Objective: investigating the effectiveness of art therapy with reliance on painting therapy in alleviating the symptoms of separation anxiety disorder, school phobia, and oppositional defiant disorder in female students in Rafsanjan, Iran in 2021-2022. Method: this is a quasi-experimental method with a pretest and posttest outline with a control group. In this study, the statistical population included 30 female first-graders with symptoms of separation anxiety, scolion phobia, and oppositional defiant disorder who were chosen and put to the test randomly in two groups of 15 for test and control. The test group was intervened collectively for eleven 45-minute sessions, while the control group remained in the waiting list. All of the participants in pretest and posttest were evaluated via Pediatric Symptom Checklist as well as school phobia checklist. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics as well as covariance analysis in SPSS. Results: the results demonstrated that the symptoms of separation anxiety disorder, school phobia, as well as oppositional defiant disorder have decreased meaningfully (P<0.001). Conclusion: painting therapy will lead to a decline in the symptoms of separation anxiety disorder, school phobia, and oppositional defiant disorder and implies the acceptability and a more widespread use of painting when encountering fear, anxiety, and disobedience.
